2021 Music Camp Final Concert Program

Exciting news, our Summer Music Camp (June 13-17) will now have an overnight option for campers! Please know that everyone (band staff, housing and dining staff, campus event staff) are working diligently to keep everyone safe (as they have ALL semester). Yes, the schedule and layout will be different from year's past but we are grateful to provide a safe and enriching experience!

Due to campus guidelines and space limitations, there will be two, 40-member ensembles; the Gilbert Band (6-8 graders from the 2020-2021 school year) and the Blocher Band (9-11 graders from the 2020-2021 school year). These ensembles will have a set, limited instrumentation that will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis (based on timestamp on your registration form). A waiting list will be created in the event of cancellations. Camp will begin the evening of Sunday, June 13 and conclude with an outdoor concert on Thursday, June 17.

Registration is open and will close Friday, May 14 at 9:00am. Camp participants will be notified by 5:00pm on Monday, May 17 to confirm participation and will be given more details. Participants will need to secure their spot for camp by 9:00am on Monday, May 24. Please do not send in any payments until you have been contacted about a secured spot.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are excited to have campers return to campus! If you have any questions, email Dr. Wimmer (amwimmer@ksu.edu)!

The 2021 Kansas State University Summer Music Camp will be held on June 13-17th and is open to band students grades 7 through 11 (2020-2021 school year). A typical daily schedule during camp includes a full group rehearsal in the morning, followed by a sectional (small group) rehearsal with instruction by a specialist. Staff will supervise meals, recreation time at either the K-State Union and the City Park Pool. The camp culminates with a final performance by the camp ensembles Thursday afternoon.

All campers and staff must abide by university COVID-19 protocols and procedures throughout the duration of camp.

The guest conductors for the 2021 KSU Music camp will be Dr. Jay Gilbert, Director of Bands at Doane in Crete, Nebraska and Dr. Larry Blocher of Troy University (Alabama). The four-day camp exposes students to a variety of ensemble and rehearsal settings.

The staff of the Kansas State Music Camp is comprised of the finest musicians and teachers from the area who are chosen for their interest and ability to inspire and teach talented young musicians. College music students complete our staff. All staff members supervise student rehearsals, sectionals, meals, and recreation times throughout each day.

Cafeteria-style meals are served in the Kramer dining center. Students who choose not to purchase a meal plan may choose to pay cash for each individual meal if they would like.

Resident campers will be be staying in Wefald Hall, K-State's newest dorm and will be supervised by staff whenever they are in the dorms.
