Steam System Projects
Most buildings on campus are heated by the steam produced by the power plant. In many buildings, the domestic hot water is also heated by this steam. There are two main steam lines throughout the campus. They are the 5 psi line and the 90 psi line. The 5 psi steam is used mostly for space heating and the 90 psi steam for domestic hot water, heating hot water for buildings heated by water instead of direct steam heating and for various process heating in labs. This is a very old system and so there are several projects in progress to improve this system. They include:
Waste Heat Recovery
Spray-on Insulation
