University Honors Program

Fall 2021 UHP Student Achievements

Four UHP students were recently inducted into Sigma Delta Pi: Cade CiesielskiJenika Hazelbaker, Tess Fairbanks, and Tori WardModern Languages Inducts Students into National Collegiate Spanish Honor Society Sigma Delta Pi.

Five UHP students in the College of Engineering -- Kaitlin Colle, Calvin Nelson, Brian Blood, Matthew Culbertson and John Eddy -- have been inducted into Tau Beta Pi.  Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society welcomes 16 new initiates.

Brian Blood, UHP student in Industrial Engineering, participated with other K-State finalists in this supply chain case competition: K-State business students reach finals in General Motors Supply Chain Case Competition.

Liam McConnell, UHP student in Operations and Supply Chain Management, is the November Profile of the Month in Modern Languages.  Read about his decision to study Chinese at K-State. 

Congratulations to Jaime Knight, Agronomy, and Hieu Nguyen, Biology, for being selected as 2022 McNair Scholars.  27th cohort of McNair Scholars selected.

Stacia Mendoza, junior in Finance, has been chosen as one of two 2022 student ambassadors elected to represent the University at university activities and various Alumni Association events throughout the state.  K-State students select 2022 Student Ambassadors.

Spring 2021 UHP Student Achievements

Andrea Fuhrman, Hospitality Management, and Nicholas Dombrowski, Athletic Training, have been recognized with Research/Creative Activity senior awards by the College of Health and Human Sciences. College of Health and Human Sciences recognizes spring 2021 outstanding seniors

Lydia Waner, UHP junior in Fisheries, Wildlife & Conservation Biology and Spanish, has been named as Honorable Mention for the Udall Scholarship.  Waner was awarded the Udall for career aspirations related to the environment, and only 55 recipients and 55 Honorable Mentions were awarded nationally. Two Kansas State University students earn honorable mention for Udall Scholarship

Honors students Jessica Schenk, senior in Marketing, and Caroline Kimberlin, senior in Finance and Accounting, were both members of the first place team in this year’s K-State Innovation and Strategy Case Competition. Winners announced in K-State Innovation and Strategy Case Competition

Luke Ryan, UHP senior in Agronomy, scored a first-place finish in the national invitational crops tournament for 2021, leading a first-place finish for the K-State Crops Judging Team: K-State Crops Team Completes Successful Spring Season

Congratulations to the ten members of the University Honors Program who were inducted to Phi Beta Kappa during in Spring 2021 for their excellent record of academic achievement and curricular breadth in the liberal arts and sciences: Ariana Brancato, Cadence Ciesielski, Kayla Craigmile, Natalie Leonard, Emory Mathes, Liam McConnell, Alexa Scheer, Kinsley Searles, Sarah Spond and Charles Worley. Phi Beta Kappa to induct 36 students 

Seven UHP students are among the 14 students recognized by the Division of Biology with Most Promising Student awards for 2020-21: Taylor Bugbee, Thomas Leihsing, Hieu Nguyen, Madison Nobrega, Loren Reed, Gabriela Shipman, and Lydia Waner. Division of Biology names most promising students

Sarah Carr, UHP student in Civil Engineering, has been awarded the Eugene C. Figg Engineering Scholarship from the American Society of Civil Engineers.  Civil engineering senior wins national scholarship from American Society of Civil Engineers

UHP junior in Chemical Engineering, Sierra Staatz was awarded one of two W. Leroy Culbertson Steel Ring Leadership Scholarships for 2021 by the Steel Ring Engineering Honor Society. Engineering honor society announces spring award recipients

We are happy to announce that seven UHP students from four different colleges were among those awarded Blue Key scholarships for the coming year: Cadence Ciesielski (Philosophy), Kayla Craigmile (Anthropology), Jenika Hazelbaker (Agronomy), Cameron Jones (Strategic Selling), Alexa Scheer (Political Science), Sierra Statz (Chemical Engineering), and Lydia Waner (Fisheries and Wildlife Biology). Congratulations to Nathan Bothwell, UHP senior in Political Science and Communication Studies, for being awarded a Dean of Student Life Outstanding Graduating Senior award. University recognizes 12 students with Dean of Student Life Outstanding Graduating Senior Award  

Congratulations to Honors students Cameron Jones and Zachary Parr, recognized as two of the three recipients of the Mortar Board Outstanding Student Scholarship for 2021. Three students win Mortar Board Outstanding Student Scholarships

UHP writing talent: Alissa Rehmert and Lindsey Bergner have been awarded second and third place respectively in the Live Ideas Short Story Contest. Their work will appear in the April issue of Live Ideas.    Congratulations to the top three finishers in the Live Ideas short story contest

Congratulations to Stacia Mendoza and Benjamin Rauth as UHP students participating as part of Kansas State University Sales Team. The team recently took second place at the Challenger Sales Institute Regional Team Challenge.  K-State Sales Team finishes second place at Challenger Sales Institute Regional Team Challenge

UHP student Kristin Chaney was awarded a $1000 Swogger/McNair Scholarship by the Primary Text Certificate program, and UHP students Cody Skahan and Jillian Dunlay were among those who participated in the Live Ideas Spring Institute, sponsored by the Live Ideas Undergraduate Journal, and received $250 scholarship for their participation! Students receive Live Ideas Spring Institute and Swogger/McNair Scholarships   

Caitlin Snyder, sophomore and pre-veterinary option of K-State's animal sciences and industry major is one of the university's latest recipients of the Gilman scholarship! Snyder will use her scholarship to work with Loop Abroad and will work with the organization in South Africa studying the anatomy, behavior and conservation of big cats!
