Are you hosting programs/events involving minors?
Kansas State University is committed to providing a safe environment for the campus community. The university values the opportunity to provide educational, recreational, and other programming for minor children. If you are hosting any event that involves children under the age of 18, please review PPM 3130: Policy for the Protection of Minor Children Participating in Campus Events. As you are planning your event, go to the Youth Camps and Programs website to register your event, complete the required training, and submit background checks for all event staff and volunteers who are not current K-State full-time employees.
Camp/event coordinators are expected to:
- Avoid one-on-one interactions whenever possible.
- Register of the program.
- Complete background checks for all program staff and volunteers.
- Ensure that program staff has successfully complete annual training on topics set out by the assistant vice president for risk and compliance.
- Report all incidents involving accidents, injuries, abuse, or other incidents that pose a threat to safety or well-being. Report incidents at k-state.edu/report.
- Ensure program participants do not have access to sensitive facilities at the university.
- Follow published supervision ratios.
The Office of Risk and Compliance is hosting an information session from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, in Room 209 of the K-State Student Union. Staff will be available to discuss youth protection and answer any questions related to the policy.
