CATS3D initiative showcased at annual KDOT Safety conference.

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

K-State’s CATS3D initiative was showcased at the 27th annual Kansas Department of Transportation's Transportation Safety Conference in Topeka on April 5. Presenting about the program were Cheryl Grice, director of strategic relations with the Division of Communications and marketing, Jessica Brooks, lieutenant and coordinator of investigations with K-State Police, and Kelli Farris, executive director of the Center for Student Involvement.

The CATS3D initiative is an opportunity for commitment, awareness, education and student engagement regarding efforts to promote KDOT's Drive to Zero campaign to designate a sober driver when needed.

A key focus of this initiative is mitigating risk related to impaired driving by promoting the use of a SafeRide and other prevention measures relevant to the university and Manhattan communities. K-State collaborates with established stakeholders on campus and within the community to identify opportunities to connect, educate and increase awareness among students on the issue of impaired driving. This outreach and engagement initiative provides access to resources for safety and well-being of our university students.
