.010 Introduction

University personnel need to be alert to recognize any threats on campus. A person which is in the possession of a weapon on campus makes it easy to become overly worried and suspicious. This policy provides information to faculty, staff, and student to reduce the potential of a threat and the anxiety

.020 Policy

Kansas State University prohibits the possession or use of firearms, explosives, or weapons on any University campus or at any University sponsored or supervised activity, unless possession is authorized in writing by the Director or Assistant Director of the KSU Police Department.

"Weapon" means any object or substance designed to inflict a wound, cause injury or incapacitate, or create a reasonable fear of harm, including but not limited to, all firearms, including air rifles and pellet guns; bow and arrows; ammunition; switchblade knives and knives with blades four or more inches in length; martial arts weapons; brass knuckles; explosives; and dangerous chemicals or poisons that are possessed with the intent to injure another or to cause damage to property.

Persons with knowledge or information of conduct which may constitute a violation of this policy are urged to contact the KSU Police Department. Housing residents wishing to have a weapon must store that weapon off campus.
