Meritt leads national conversation about teacher mobility
Dustin Meritt, College of Education professor of practice and military initiative committee chair, recently led a national conversation addressing the sunsetting of the Troops to Teachers program, possible replacements and the Teacher Mobility Compact. The conference took place Feb. 24 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Meritt serves as chair of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education’s Military Affiliation Teacher Educator Preparation Topical Action Group.
“This is an important conversation for us to be part of because many K-State students have participated in Troops to Teachers,” Meritt said. “The Teacher Mobility Compact would benefit many people, but for our group, we are looking at the benefits to military-connected people, specifically spouses, veterans and National Guard/Reservists who are teachers moving to different states.”
