National Public Health Week at K-State

Submitted by Ellyn Mulcahy

Celebrate National Public Health Week with different events hosted by the K-State Master of Public Health and the Bachelor of Public Health programs April 4-8. This year's theme is “Public Health is Where You Are.”

On Tuesday, April 5, learn more about public health on K-State’s Instagram account. Public health students will take over and show what public health is all about.

Wednesday, April 6, the Comprehensive Public Health Club, a registered departmental student organization, is hosting Jay Tischendorf, veterinary services manager with Ceva, for a lecture from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Mara Conference Center on the fourth floor of Trotter Hall. RSVPs are requested to barta@k-state.edu. The Comprehensive Public Health Club is open to all students on campus.

A public health poster session will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday, April 7, in the K-State Student Union courtyard. The posters will be judged and monetary awards will be given for undergraduate and graduate student categories. Topics for posters may be any public health-related topic. The poster session is open to all students on campus. Please contact barta@k-state.edu for details, and to submit your name and poster title for this poster session.

Tiasia Saunders, a public health graduate student, and Tori Gleason, diversity, equity and inclusion consultant, will discuss the National Public Health Week daily theme of “Accessibility: Closing the Health Equity Gap” from 2-3 p.m. Friday, April 8. Please contact barta@k-state.edu for the Zoom link.

Throughout the week, follow K-State Kinesiology and K-State Veterinary Medicine on Instagram for more information about public health and the many great events taking place. For more details visit k-state.edu/mphealth or contact Ellyn Mulcahy or Jennifer Miller.
