Anna Salas recognized as Professional Staff of the Week

Submitted by Faculty Senate

Anna Salas

Anna Salas, office specialist II, adjunct faculty, in the management department, was recognized as the Professional Staff of the Week at the Nov. 10 men's home basketball game.

Faculty Senate, the Office of the President, K-State Athletics and the Division of Communications and Marketing wish to recognize her contributions to K-State.

Salas is highly deserving of this recognition. She has truly gone above and beyond while carrying out her duties this year, and has done so in past years as well. Salas is a true joy to work with. She leads with empathy and understanding and is an incredibly dedicated and productive member of the college. She provides the only administrative support to the largest department in the college and is the go-to person for the management staff. In addition, she manages communication and assists with preparations for both the Management and MIS Advisory Boards, helps coordinate the work of five graduate students, works with five student organizations and is involved in the coordination of five academic disciplines. Even while her regular duties are extensive, Salas is also frequently called on to be extensively involved in college-level and university-level committees focused on diversity and inclusion. She has been a speaker in a class for diversity and her story resonates with students. Moreover, she has provided extensive support to the dean's office during their staffing shortage, helped with activities for the Center for Principled Business, assisted with events for the Center for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship, and generally pitched in any time and place that she was needed.

Salas has a generous spirit, outstanding work ethic, dedication and impeccable organizational skills. She also has the keen ability to bring out confidence in those she works with. This benefits not only her department and college, but all of Kansas State University.
