K-State, USDA researchers’ study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

A team of K-State and U.S. Department of Agriculture researchers had a study published in the June 26 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.

The study “Presence of tannins in sorghum grains is conditioned by different natural alleles of Tannin1 delves into the genetic makeup of tannins in sorghum, the dietary staple of more than 500 million people in more than 30 countries and an important livestock feed.

The team was led by Jianming Yu, associate professor of agronomy; Tesfaye Tesso, assistant professor of agronomy; and Scott Bean, scientist with the USDA's Agricultural Research Service and adjunct faculty member in the department of agronomy.
