Lecture by Cecelia Tichi on novelist Jack London

Cecelia Tichi, Vanderbilt University, will speak on "A Necessary Revolution: Jack London's Fight for America's Future" at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in the K-State Student Union's Little Theatre.

Tichi is the William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of English and professor of American studies at Vanderbilt and the winner of the Jay B. Hubbell Medal for lifetime achievement in American literature. Her current research explores the relation of citizen activism to progressive social change in the United States.

Author of eight books on American literature and culture as well as several novels, Tichi's most recent book is "Civic Passions: Seven Who Launched Progressive America (and What They Teach Us)." It has received praise from Publisher's Weekly and the New York Times, among others, and was featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education. (See <http://civicpassions.com/> for more information.)
