Mathematics Colloquium
Valery Lunts, Indiana University, will give the Mathematics Colloquium "Motivic Measure,"at 2:30 p.m. today in 122 Cardwell Hall.
Abstract: A motivic measure is a ring homomorphism from the Grothendieck ring of varieties to another commutative ring. One uses such homomorphisms to define Euler characteristic type of invariants of algebraic varieties. Lunts will give a survey of known interesting motivic measures and also report on the work in progress where we construct some new ones.
