Staff Development

  1. Any full-time or part-time classified employee with prior approval of his/her supervisor may register for courses offered by Human Resources and off campus vendors for personal growth or to develop job–related skills. Temporary employees may not register during hours he or she is scheduled to work unless approved by supervisor.
  2. Supervisor may recommend to employee a class/seminar that, in the supervisor's opinion, would enhance employee performance or personal growth. Employee may suggest to supervisor a class/seminar he/she would like to attend for position enhancement/personal growth.
  3. Supervisor will review class/seminar request to determine if employee’s work area can be adequately covered during the employee's absence.
  4. All requests must be made in adequate time for approval process to ensure class registration is within deadlines of lowest cost. It is the responsibility of an administrator to approve/disapprove payment of registration fees.
  5. Reasonable travel time to and from the class/seminar will be coordinated with the supervisor.
  6. Upon completion of the class/seminar, the supervisor and employee may review the content and possible application in the workplace.
