ACCREDITATION

https://www.k-state.edu/assessment/aboutus/accreditation/

Kansas State University has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1916. The university participates through the Open Pathway reaffirmation of accreditation process. Accreditation covers all courses and programs offered at all campuses of Kansas State University. In addition, various schools within the University hold accreditation from their professional accrediting associations.

Locating the CIP Code

The students program of study/major as reflected on the official transcript has a Classification of Instructional Program {CIP} code affiliated with it in the system but that CIP Code will not be reflected on the official transcript.  You may find the approved curriculum and CIP code affiliation on our Academic Structure Tables for KSIS Majors (excel), KSIS Certificates (excel) and KSIS Minors (excel).

When downloading the file, Column A is the CIP Code assigned.  It is recommended that you search for the CIP Code and it will show you all majors, certificates or minors (depending on the excel file you have downloaded) that are affiliated with the CIP Code in question.

UNIT OF CREDIT

K-State operates on a semester calendar. Each semester is an academic term and the unit of credit is the semester hour.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)

The GPA is a measure of scholastic performance. A GPA is obtained by dividing the number of grade points by the hours of work attempted.

K-State has never included transfer credit into the overall cumulative GPA nor had a Transfer GPA on the official or unofficial transcript.

SYMBOLS AND TERMINOLOGY

  • Blank = work in progress
  • Academic Program = Academic College
  • Academic Plan = Major/Minor/Certificate
  • Academic Sub-Plan = Concentration within a plan
  • Term = Semester

Transfer Credit

Transfer work that is accepted is listed on the transcript showing the name of the institution, transfer credits, and the number of hours accepted. Transfer work is not included in Earned Hours or in the K-State GPA calculations.

Effective Fall 2021: K-State moved to a new view for the Official transcript which removed the attempted and earned hours from the overall cumulative counts being reflected in the final cumulative rows on the transcript. This does not mean that the official transcript is incorrect nor does it mean that the unofficial transcript holds any more validity than the official transcript. Transfer credit and Test Credit is still reflected on the transcript and would be added to the overall K-State earned hours reflecting final cumulative totals.
