Apply for Visa Interview
Schedule a visa appointment for your United States student visa at your local U.S. Embassy/Consulate closest to your home residence. If you have an I-20, you should apply for an F-1 visa. If you have a DS-2019, you should apply for a J-1 visa.
During your visa interview:
Take all the documents that you might need to your interview.
Be prepared to present your information quickly. In a busy embassy, the visa officer may have only a few minutes for each interview. Present your most important documents first and have the other things ready to show if you are given enough time. Remember the visa officer is looking to see if you have temporary or permanent intent in the United States when asking you questions.
After your visa interview:
If you receive a visa denial, you should receive the denial reason in writing. The most common reason for visa denial is failure to demonstrate permanent ties to your home country. Let us know at International Admissions if your visa is denied or delayed in processing so that you cannot arrive to begin your program.
When your visa is approved, celebrate, and get ready to join us at Kansas State!
