Fountain Grass, Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘National Arboretum’

Full Sun, Warm-season
Very distinct thick inflorescences on this variety of fountain grass, but the blooms do not appear until fairly late in the season. It has a clump-forming growth habit, but its foliage is not very interesting or ornamental. Nice winter interest with the seed heads. The seeds can potentially invade irrigated cool-season turf, but we have not noticed any seedlings in the trial.
