Now accepting campus applications for the Goldwater scholarship

Submitted by Kali Poenitske

Are you participating in undergraduate research and planning to graduate from a STEM discipline between May 2023 and May 2024? If so, you may be a competitive candidate for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, which awards up to $7,500 a year toward undergraduate expenses.

Ideal Goldwater nominees plan to earn a doctorate and seek a research-oriented career in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering; have maintained a 3.8-plus GPA; and have ongoing undergraduate research experience.

Kansas State University can nominate four students in engineering, mathematics and/or the natural sciences to compete nationally for the Goldwater. Students nominated to represent K-State in the national competition will also receive a $1,000 scholarship from K-State for spring 2022.

Campus applications are due on Nov. 5. Read the full PDF instructions regarding how to apply.

Jim Hohenbary is the Goldwater faculty representative. If students have questions or would like to discuss other scholarship options, please contact him at jimlth@k-state.edu or 785-532-3422, or visit the Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships in 204 Leadership Studies Building.
