Weekly global observance information

The President's Committee on Religion, Spirituality and Nonreligious Diversity, presents the Weekly Global Observance Information for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3. 

Sept. 27 Meskel — Ethiopian Orthodox Christian and Eritrean Orthodox Christian commemoration of the discovery of the True Cross by Queen Eleni (St. Helenea) in the fourth century.

Sept. 27-Sept. 28 Shemini Atzeret — Jewish completion of the annual cycle of the reading of the Torah.

Sept. 28-Sept. 29 Simchat Torah — Jewish day to celebrate the reading of the Law. Synagogue service involves readings, processions, and the blessing of the children.

The president's committee welcomes those of all global faith, spiritual and nonreligious worldview commitments.
