Parking permits expiring today, purchase and renew online

Submitted by Brennan Bestwick

Parking permits expire today and can be purchased online. New permits are effective from Aug. 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.

K-State is now using a license plate recognition system, which eliminates the need for physical parking permits, like hangtags or stickers. Virtual registration of users' license plates serves as their permit, granting access to K-State parking lots and the garage. Motorcycle permits remain physical and have not changed.

Since license plate recognition will be used in the parking garage, there is no longer a need for gated entry and exits. Parking Services is in the process of removing gates and adding speed bumps to slow traffic. Drivers wishing to park in the garage and pay hourly may use the ParkMobile app or pay at a pay station. Hourly payment now occurs upon arrival instead of exit with the option to add additional time on the app. New pay stations are now in place.

License plates must be visible to patrolling Parking Services' vehicles. Please do not back into stalls. Backing into stalls could result in a citation or slowed patrol times for Parking Services staff. All individuals parking on campus should pull forward into the stall or purchase a front license plate from the Parking Services office for $6.

Contact Parking Services if you have any questions.
