New Powercat Financial peer financial counselors named

Submitted by Jodi Kaus

Powercat Financial has significantly increased its peer financial counselor staff to assist in impacting all students’ financial well-being. Peer financial counselors assist students with their financial questions and college financial planning decisions. They also provide free financial workshops, courses and events for students and have the opportunity to be Meritrust Credit Union Scholars. This is a unique on-campus job opportunity for students studying in financial-related programs such as personal financial planning, business finance, accounting, agribusiness and economics.

The following students will serve as new peer financial counselors:

  • Katelyn Silcox, Derby.
  • Giselle Benitez, Garden City.
  • Sarah Biehler, Herington.
  • Rylie May, Hutchinson.
  • Kamille Greene, Manhattan.
  • Kirsten Ouellette, Morrowville.
  • Keaton Verdict, Shawnee.
  • Jackson Rohn, Topeka.
  • Cristian Pena, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
  • Jonathon Oury, Hartland, Wisconsin.
  • Chipo Sekabanja, Kampala, Uganda.

The following students continue to serve as peer financial counselors:

  • Quinton Vlach, Bonner Springs.
  • Brenton Wilden, Gardner.
  • Jaden Blansett, graduate assistant, Holcomb.
  • R.J. Salmen, Lenexa.
  • Xander Say, Abram Mugler and Jackson Harvey, Manhattan.
  • Daniel Hensarling, Olathe.
  • Chet Redstone and Eli McDonald, graduate assistants, Overland Park.
  • Halle Schindler, Paola.
  • Kolby Stein, Spearville.
  • Michael Pumphrey, Bellaire, TX.

Twelve additional students have joined Powercat Financial's Student Advisory Board to support the mission of increasing students’ financial well-being. These students connect students with the financial services of Powercat Financial and host interactive financial events and programming around financial wellness initiatives throughout the year. In addition, twelve students currently volunteer as Residential Financial Specialists in living communities and residence halls to connect students to financial well-being support and programming.
