Guetterman

Weston Guetterman, sophomore in agricultural economics, Bucyrus, was named a recipient of the Dr. Henry W. Indyk Scholarship, administered by The Lawn Institute.

Guetterman received $10,000 and formal recognition during the 2023 International Education Conference of Turfgrass Producers International, held Feb. 20-22 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Guetterman is a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, where he has served as the vice noble ruler of membership and vice noble ruler of finance. He is also a member of the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Club. Prior to his time at Kansas State University, Guetterman assisted in the formation and operation of his family's commercial sod business, Grassroots Sod Farms.

Indyk scholarship recipients must be immediate family members of Turfgrass Producers International members. Applicants are evaluated based on their academic record, a recommendation letter and two essay responses related to their career goals and the influence the turfgrass industry has had on them.

The scholarship program is named after Henry W. Indyk, a founder of Turfgrass Producers International. The association promotes the global environmental benefits of natural grass through education and research. Its membership is comprised of seed and sod producers, equipment suppliers, manufacturers, educators and other professionals in the turfgrass industry.
