Pickering publishes journal cover article on All Faiths Chapel pipe organ

Submitted by School of Music, Theatre, and Dance

David Pickering

Professor of Music David Pickering's article on the history and importance of the All Faiths Chapel organ in the American organ scene was the cover article for the August 2022 issue of The Diapason magazine.

The pipe organ's 60th anniversary was celebrated in February, and the personnel of Quimby Pipe Organs of Warrensburg, Missouri, recently completed an eight-year renovation of the instrument.

"The All Faiths Chapel organ is such a familiar backdrop in a venue that we visit so often that it's easy to not know anything about it or how it came to be such a permanent fixture in the chapel," Pickering said. "Robert Hays and Marion Pelton, two of my predecessors at K-State, long dreamed of having an organ in All Faiths Chapel, and after patience and perseverance, their dream was realized."

Active recitalist, recording artist, scholar and author, Pickering is also the chair of the keyboard division at K-State. His career as a performer has carried him across the United States, as well as to Austria, Canada, England, Finland and Germany. Learn more on his website.
