Asbestos Awareness for KSU Building Occupants virtual training dates for fall 2022

Submitted by Human Capital Services - Learning and Development

The Department of Environmental Health and Safety is offering Asbestos Awareness for KSU Building Occupants, WTD166, to anyone interested in learning more about what asbestos is, health concerns associated with it and where it can be found on campus.

Asbestos is most commonly found in buildings constructed before 1981. Asbestos can be discovered in ceilings, between floors, on plumbing, inside some doors, air ducts, floor tiles, glues and mastics and in parts of HVAC systems, as well as other architectural features. As long as the asbestos is not damaged, there is no hazard to building occupants. If the asbestos is damaged, the issue is resolved as quickly as possible to avoid endangering building occupants.

All sessions will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon via Zoom on the following dates: Thursday, Sept. 1; Thursday, Oct. 6; Thursday, Nov. 3; and Thursday, Dec. 1.

Participants may register through HRIS Self-Service or send an email to Megan Eakin at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, employee ID, course title, course number WTD166 and date desired.

Arrangements can also be made with the instructor, Shane Garrett, to deliver the presentation to an individual department. Contact 785-532-5856 or email safety@k-state.edu with questions.
