Employee time accommodations for voting

Submitted by Sue Peterson and Jay Stephens

As Election Day approaches, employees are preparing to vote if they have not done so already. The following information may be used for time accommodations for voting on Election Day.

Polling locations are generally open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, allowing employees to vote without affecting work hours. For employees who live in other counties, accommodations should be made for those needing to arrive at work a bit late or leave a bit early to make it to the polls.

If an employee cannot get to the polls outside of work hours, time should be allowed to go vote without leave being charged. If the poll hours are different, time could be adjusted accordingly if necessary.

Advance voting for Riley County is available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 31 and 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 2 at the Riley County Courthouse. Advance voting is also available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 30 and from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 2 in the Bluemont Room in the K-State Student Union.
