Office of International Programs now accepting nominations for the 2018 International Educator of the Year award

Submitted by Mary K. Pyle

The Office of International Programs is starting to accept nominations for the 2018 International Educator of the Year award. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28.

The International Educator of the Year award will be presented at the International Education Week reception, a big part of K-State's International Education Week. This year, International Education Week will take place Nov. 12-16.

This award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to advance international education on our campus. Faculty, staff, administrators or other members of the K-State community may be honored for major contributions and sustained commitment to internationalizing the university.

"The international educator of the year award is an exciting opportunity for our K-State community," said Marcellus Caldas, assistant provost for international faculty collaborations and educational programs. "It represents 18 years of faculty and staff commitment to highlighting those individuals that are elevating international awareness in our classrooms, community and world."

The honoree will be presented with a $1,000 award and a plaque at the International Education Week award reception.

International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promotes programs that prepare students for a global environment and serves to attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences.

The K-State Office of International Programs partners with U. S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to present a week of programming to elevate the level of international awareness on our campus.

For questions about the award nomination process contact Marcellus Caldas at caldasma@k-state.edu. For questions about International Education Week or including your event as part of the week's activities, please contact Mary K. Pyle at 816-969-9414 or mkpyle@k-state.edu.
