Call for fiscal year 2017 Educational Opportunity Fund proposals

Submitted by Joe Tinker

The Educational Opportunity Fund supports students who have been historically underrepresented. Funding can be used for academic scholarships and fellowships for both graduate and undergraduate students. Applications are due in the Office of Student Activities and Services no later than 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.

Entities can apply for need-based grants that include financial support for students with special expenses or for students who have been historically underrepresented in higher education. This fall, the committee will allocate about $370,000 to different entities across campus. The committee is made up of four student senators, four students at-large, the vice president for student life, the director of student financial assistance and the director of the Office of Student Activities and Services.

Any applications received after Sept. 25 will not be considered, regardless of delays caused by campus mail or the U.S. Postal Service.

For further explanation regarding the administration of the Educational Opportunity Fund, refer to the Board of Regents Educational Opportunity Fund guidelines. Please direct any questions concerning the Educational Opportunity Fund or the application process to the Educational Opportunity Fund committee chair, Joe Tinker, at 785-532-6541 or joetinker@k-state.edu.
