Join us for the annual Spring Teaching Workshop

Submitted by Paula Connors

Have you ever had a student respond in a way that just makes you wonder, "Why in the world would you say that?" Have you given a group assignment with very clear written directions, "you must be in a group of five to seven people — no exceptions," and then get an email from a student asking, "Can I do this assignment by myself?" These are actual scenarios that happened in classrooms at K-State last semester.

If you want to learn more about our students and how to teach them effectively, please attend the annual Spring Teaching Workshop, 1-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, and 9-11:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in the K-State Alumni Center. This year's speakers, Raymond Wlodkowski and Margery Ginsberg, will share their research and understanding about today's 21st Century Learners.

"Learning and Motivation for the 21st Century Learner" is Friday afternoon's topic, and "Understanding Motivation to Develop Culturally Responsive Teaching" will be addressed Saturday morning.

See the full agenda of the workshop, presented by the Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence and the Teaching and Learning Center. The registration link is at the top of the page, or you can register here.
