Donations 4 Citations successfully raising donations for Cats' Cupboard

Submitted by Parking Services

On January 22, K-State Parking Services collaborated with Cats' Cupboard and the Student Governing Association to launch a new program called Donations 4 Citations. This initiative allows students, faculty and staff who receive a parking citation to have it "forgiven" by donating to Cats' Cupboard. To date, 113 members of the K-State community have donated 1,130 items to Cats' Cupboard, resulting in a total value of voided citations amounting to $4,783.

To qualify for citation forgiveness, you must donate 10 or more nonperishable food items or hygiene products. Additionally, you must include your purchase receipt with the donation. Eligible items for donation include:

  • White rice, bag
  • Red lentils, bag
  • Marinara sauce, jar
  • Laundry detergent
  • Vegetable oil
  • Pineapple, can
  • Jelly or jam
  • Ketchup or mustard
  • Peaches, can
  • Shampoo

Only specific types of citations qualify for the Donations 4 Citations program. These include violation warnings, expired meter violations, unpaid parking citations, unregistered vehicles, improper parking and overtime parking. Please note that not all citations are eligible for this program, and you are limited to one forgiveness per academic year.

To have your citation forgiven through the Donations 4 Citations program, please bring a qualifying citation along with ten approved donations and the purchase receipt for those items to the Parking Services office. The office is located to the right of the entrance on the first floor of K-State's Parking Garage, and you should visit during regular business hours.
