Dr. Olga Koper, Chief Technology Officer at NanoScale Corporation has been appointed as Adjunct Professor of Chemistry. Olga received her M.S. degree from Silesian University in Poland, and earned her Ph.D. in 1996 at KSU working with University Distinguished Professor Ken Klabunde. Immediately after graduation, she joined NanoScale Materials, Inc. as a Senior Scientist and was the company’s first full time employee. NanoScale’s rapid growth (now 50 employees) was paralleled by Olga’s ascent through increasingly responsible positions: she became Director of R&D in 2000, Senior Director of Technical Services in 2003, and Vice-President for Technology and Technical Services in 2004. She was appointed to her present position in 2007.
Olga has been instrumental in the success and growth of NanoScale: she is the author of numerous publications, and is co-inventor on 16 issued patents and 44 other pending patents. She has been awarded over $22 million in grants and contracts, and has been recognized recently with the KTEC Innovator of the Year Award (2008) and the Kansas BioScience Big Thinker Award (2008). We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Koper back to the department.
