The second annual K-State Research Forum was held on Friday April 20, and again this year, a Chemistry graduate student won top honors. Ayomi Perera, third year Ph.D. student in Prof. Stefan Bossmann’s group, was named the outstanding presenter in the Engineering, Math, and Physical Sciences Oral Session. Her presentation was “Purification and Analytical Assessment of the Mycobacterial Porin MspA and Investigation of its Channel Activity and Potential Use for a Protein Nano Solar Cell”.

Ayomi received a $100 gift card, and a plaque honoring her will be on display in the Chemistry Department throughout the year.

In 2010, another member of the Bossmann group, Thilani Samarakoon, was chosen for the same honor.
