Student Senate weekly update

Submitted by Blake Phillips

Good morning, Wildcats!

Student Senate met on Thursday, Feb. 10, for the third time this semester. At the meeting, Student Senate approved a commendation to Ayoka Lee for her record-breaking performance and an on-campus event allocation to On the Spot Improv. Additionally, Student Senate approved the elimination of priority funding from the Student Centered Tuition Enhancements committee, significant changes to the SGA committee structure, changes to the elections regulation regarding tabling, and amendments to the Special Committee on Strategic Oversight Sexual Assault Prevention Report.

After voting concluded, Student Senate elected Hannah Heatherman and Donny Riffel to serve on a special session of the Joint Committee on Officers Compensation. This committee serves to determine the compensation of officers of K-State SGA.

Finally, Student Senate introduced several pieces of legislation, including the allocation of open house funds, a travel allocation to the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, and several amendments regarding speaking privileges in Student Senate.

Student Senate will reconvene at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. All are welcome to attend in person or can watch live on YouTube at the K-State SGA YouTube channel.
