Fraternities and sororities at K-State open for holiday house tours

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

For the first time, 21 fraternities and 13 sororities — all registered independent student organizations — at Kansas State University will open their houses to the public for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life Holiday House Tours on Sunday, Dec. 8. Proceeds raised will support the K-State Proud campaign.

This activity will commence immediately following the McCain Holiday Home Tour, which is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8.

The Greek house tours occur from 5-8 p.m. A wristband can be purchased for $5 a person at any participating house. Admission is free for children under 12 and adults over 65, said tour coordinators Brooke Montgomery and Dawson Wagner, the respective directors of community and internal affairs for the Panhellenic Council and the Interfraternity Council. Donations for K-State Proud also are accepted.

In addition to showing their holiday decorations, participating chapters will have a display of their respective philanthropies. Moreover, chapters without houses have been paired with housed chapters, the coordinators said.

K-State Proud is the university's premier student philanthropy, organized by the Student Foundation. For the past 13 years, students have raised more than $1.36 million for Student Opportunity Awards to help more than 700 students stay at K-State who otherwise would not have been able to continue their education.
