Hazard communication training offered through December

Submitted by Learning and Development

In 2012 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, changed a long-standing regulation concerning chemicals in the work place. The Campus Environmental Health and Safety Committee approved a new hazard communication program that includes changes made in 2012 by OSHA.

To improve compliance with this regulation, the environmental health and safety department is offering Hazard Communication Training, WTD162, sessions. Training for the Globally Harmonized System of Chemical Classification and Labeling must be provided to all employees who work with chemicals.

All sessions are in Edwards Hall on the following dates: from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22; from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 11; and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4.

There is no charge to participants, but registration is necessary to ensure adequate seating and materials. Participants my register through HRIS Self_Enrollment or by sending an email to learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, department, employee ID number, course title and the course number.

In addition, environmental health and safety will train individual departments upon request. Contact environmental health and safety at 785-532-5856 or safety@k-state.edu.
