Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

The Farm Journal Foundation and Kansas State University are hosting an open discussion on how Kansas agriculture research has transformed our food systems and what needs to improve to avoid a future global food crisis.

The K-State community is invited to attend this important discussion at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at the Stanley Stout Center, 2200 Denison Ave., for a panel discussion on "The Role of Innovation in Global Food Systems." The event is open to the public. Parking is available in the open lot to the west of the center.

The panel features U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann of Kansas; U.S. Rep. Glenn "GT" Thompson of Pennsylvania, the chairman of the House Agriculture Committee; Ambassador Gregg Doud, former chief agricultural negotiator with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and current vice president, global situational awareness and chief economist with Aimpoint Research; Tyler Lund, Kansas farmer ambassador for Farm Journal Foundation; and Ernie Minton, dean of K-State's College of Agriculture and director of K-State Research and Extension. Katie Lee, vice president for government affairs with Farm Journal Foundation, is the panel moderator.

The event will also cover opportunities in the next Farm Bill to support agricultural innovation. Following the panel discussion, there will be an opportunity for audience questions.

Please register online to attend the panel discussion. If you are unable to attend in person, a livestream is available.
