Submitted by the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance

Yu

Julie Yu, professor of music and co-director of choral studies, was the invited conductor for the Texas Large Schools All-State Mixed Choir from Feb. 9-11 at the 2023 Texas Music Educators Association Conference, or TMEA.

Each fall, more than 70,000 Texas high school students begin the all-state audition process. Ultimately, 1,810 are selected to rehearse and perform during the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles, including the Large Schools Mixed Choir.

Yu's choirs have performed in Carnegie Hall, Hawaii and the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., as well as in Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Ireland and Italy. In addition to teaching, she is an active guest clinician and conductor for various honor choirs and professional organizations around the country. Learn more.
