Horne to present 'Principles of Biology: From Studio to Online'

Eva Horne, teaching professor in the Division of Biology, will lead an event titled "Principles of Biology: From Studio to Online" from noon to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 22, via Zoom as part of the Teaching and Learning Center's Professional Development Series.
Principles of Biology is a one-semester, introductory biology course geared toward science majors. For 25 years, it has been taught in a studio format. Horne will present a brief history of the studio format and some data on student performance. Horne will discuss how the course moved online and some of the challenges encountered.
Horne will also include some demonstrations of the interactive computer material used in both versions of the class, along with some more advanced activities designed for an upper-level class.
