Master's alumna to host Presidential Management Fellowship info session Sept. 1

Submitted by Megan Miller

On Thursday, Sept. 1, graduate students and faculty are invited to connect with Kristen Sikorsky, K-State 2020 master's graduate in horticulture and natural resources and 2021 Presidential Management Fellowship finalist.  Sikorsky will present "Pathway to the Presidential Management Fellowship" from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, via Zoom.

Sikorsky will share a brief overview of the program and the benefits the fellowship provides, how to apply and what happens if you are selected as a finalist. Sikorsky will also reflect on her own fellowship experience thus far.

Administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the Presidential Management Fellowship Program is a flagship leadership development program for advanced degree candidates. Finalists are matched with the federal agency of their choice for two-year fellowships and possible appointment to that agency once their fellowship has been served.

Sikorsky learned about the fellowship from a federal employee at a professional conference. She was K-State's first finalist, and she hopes to bridge a gap and inspire a new generation who aspire to be public servants to apply for the fellowship.

More information about the session and registration to receive Zoom meeting information is available on the Graduate Student Council Professional Development website and in OrgCentral.
