Reminder: KSUnite call for papers deadline extended

Submitted by Stefan Yates

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to submit proposals for the sixth annual KSUnite, "A Journey to Justice: Bridging Distances & Differences," breakout session presentations.

KSUnite will be a three-day conference open to our colleagues and communities throughout Kansas and beyond. It will be Nov. 14-16 at the Kansas State University Student Union. Please note: Classes at K-State will be canceled from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, for the plenary session and first set of breakout sessions.

We invite proposals for a wide variety of presentations that address the conference theme, including research and scholarship presentations, diversity, equity inclusion and belonging, or DEIB, professional development workshops, teaching and learning discussions, roundtables, photo or video essays, poster sessions and other formats. In your proposal, please indicate whether the proposal meets the introductory, intermediate, or immersive level:

Introductory sessions are foundational in nature and will provide participants with a general overview of the topic. Participants will normally learn by passive engagement, listening, questions and answers.

Intermediate sessions will provide participants with some degree of knowledge and awareness of the topic and an opportunity to explore the relevance of the topic in their academic, personal and professional lives. Participants will learn by having a dialogue about the topic.

Immersive sessions will provide participants with a good knowledge of the topic and an opportunity to address multiple learning objectives. Participants in these sessions will learn by incorporating their varied individual backgrounds, experiences and beliefs into dialogue, activities and explorations of deeper issues.

Submit presentation information through the online form by Friday, Sept. 16. If you have questions, contact Stefan Yates, assistant to the interim chief diversity and inclusion officer, at syates@k-state.edu.
