Faculty Brass Quintet concert tonight

Submitted by Craig B. Parker

Trombonist Paul Hunt

The Kansas State University Faculty Brass Quintet presents its final concert of the academic year at 7:30 p.m. today, May 3, in All-Faiths Chapel.  The ensemble will perform three standard works from the brass quintet repertoire:  "Sonatine" by the prolific French composer Eugène Bozza, the heroic and intricate "Frost Fire" by Eric Ewazen and the exhilarating "Escape" by Kevin McKee. The concert will open with trombonist Paul Hunt's arrangement of the aria, "Ah, How Sweet Coffee Tastes" from Johann Sebastian Bach's "Coffee Cantata."

Members of the quintet are John Kilgore and Craig B. Parker, trumpets; Jacqueline Fassler-Kerstetter, horn; Paul Hunt, trombone; and Steven Maxwell, tuba.  This is the final concert for Hunt before his retirement from K-State. Read more about Hunt's career on the department website.
