Morgan receives 2022 K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching Award

Submitted by Ashley Nietfeld

Kari Morgan, teaching associate professor of applied human sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences, has been selected as the recipient of one of two 2022 K-State Global Campus Excellence in Online Teaching awards.

This award is given to an online instructor or faculty member who has provided outstanding online teaching, course development, mentoring of students and service to the field of continuing education.

“Dr. Morgan consistently goes above and beyond in her work with students, not only regularly emailing and meeting with current students on academic and professional related matters, but students also seek out Dr. Morgan when they are unsure of who to turn to, as they feel she is someone who cares and that they can trust,” said Mindy Markham, interim department chair of the applied human sciences department, who contributed to Morgan’s nomination. “The connections Dr. Morgan makes with students, both inside and outside her courses, are critical for student retention. Students understand that Dr. Morgan cares for them and they have someone they can reach out to.”

“As many learned during the pandemic, teaching online provides a unique set of challenges for both faculty and students,” said Karen Pedersen, dean of K-State Global Campus. “Global Campus is proud to honor faculty and instructors who exemplify teaching excellence and student support in online education.”
