Search committee appointed for associate dean of the Graduate School

The search process for the associate dean in the Graduate School is underway. The search committee, chaired by Peying Fong, graduate program director for anatomy and physiology, includes the following:

  • Anne Beamish, associate professor of landscape architecture.
  • Brad Behnke, associate dean of research and graduate studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences.
  • Jennifer Bormann, graduate program director for animal sciences and industry.
  • Christy Craft, department head of special education, counseling and student affairs.
  • Carla Martinez Machain, professor of political science.
  • Beth Montelone, senior associate vice president for research.
  • Kerry Priest, graduate program director for leadership communication.
  • Andrew Rys, graduate program director for electrical and computer engineering.
  • Chwen Sheu, associate dean for academic programs in the College of Business Administration.
  • Mark Ungerer, director of the Division of Biology.
  • Aspen Streetman, doctoral student in kinesiology.

The review of the candidates will begin April 22 and will continue until the position is filled. An open forum will be scheduled with each finalist. Information will be posted as it becomes available.

The associate dean will serve in a strategic leadership role within the Graduate School, will work with the vice provost for graduate education and dean of the graduate school as well as with academic units, to strategically advance graduate education at Kansas State University.

The associate dean provides leadership in the areas of graduate academic programming, program assessment and reviews; works collaboratively with academic units to facilitate new program development and to manage the course and curriculum approval process; evaluates academic policies and processes; supports graduate faculty success; and supports the dean in other areas of relevance to graduate education. The associate dean represents the Graduate School on university councils and committees and serves as a conduit of communication between the Graduate School and various committees across the university.
