Cheers to scholarships: A unique fundraiser for performing arts students

Submitted by Kathryn Harth

The K-State School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, or MTD, Advisory Council is partnering with Boot Hill Distillery and the Bluemont Hotel to host a performing arts scholarship fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, on the ground floor of the Bluemont Bar at 1212 Bluemont Ave.

The cocktail competition is open to the public and free to attend. A limited number of $10 tasting tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the event. Tasting tickets are $10 each, cash only. All proceeds from this event will go toward K-State students in the performing arts. Visit the Facebook event for announcements and event details.

Only those who purchase a tasting ticket will be able to taste the cocktails and vote. Guests who do not purchase a tasting ticket are still welcome to attend and watch the cocktail presentations, listen to live music from K-State students and order from the Bluemont Bar.

The winning cocktail will be served as the signature drink during the 2022 MTD Scholarship Extravaganza on Saturday, Feb. 12. The Extravaganza is the premier scholarship fundraiser for students in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance and tickets to the Extravaganza are currently on sale.

Prospective bartenders should visit the Facebook event for details on how to enter the competition. Bartenders must be 21 years old or older.

The MTD Advisory Council raises awareness about the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, its mission, and its students. Advisory council members seek out partnerships, create and attend awareness opportunities, and are passionate about supporting students in the performing arts. If you’d like to join the advisory council, email Kathryn Harth, MTD Advisory Council chair.
