COVID-19 booster vaccines are now available at Lafene Health Center
Submitted by Lafene Health Center
Following the recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decision, there are now booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S.
Eligible individuals may choose what vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they initially received and others may prefer to get a different booster. The CDC recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.
Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 booster shots are available by appointment through Lafene Health Center. Lafene Health Center is not offering the Pfizer vaccine at this time. Individuals who want to receive the Pfizer vaccine should contact their health departments, local pharmacies or private physicians.
COVID-19 vaccines are available from Monday through Friday at Lafene Health Center. Appointments are required and can be made on the myLafene+ patient portal or by calling Lafene Health Center at 785-532-6544.
All individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine can receive a second dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine if they were vaccinated two or more months ago.
Individuals who received the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are eligible for a booster at six months or more after their initial series if they meet the following criteria:
- 65 years and older.
- Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings.
- Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions.
- Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings.
The booster dose helps protect individuals who are more vulnerable to severe infection and hospitalization because of their job, their age or an underlying medical condition. Eligibility for a booster dose based on an underlying medical condition will only require self-attestation. A prescription or assessment from a health care provider is not required.
Lafene Health Center continues to offer initial doses of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines as well.
