October Manhattan Science Cafe: Fun with Fungi

Submitted by Peying Fong

Manhattan Science Cafe will host "Fortunes to be found in fungi" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Radina's Coffeehouse and Roastery, 616 N. Manhattan Ave.

Enjoy an interactive discussion with Science Cafe enthusiasts. Richard Todd, associate professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, will discuss a strategy to activate instructions harbored within fungal genomes that can be deployed to make many bioactive natural products and reveal these hidden compounds.

Manhattan Science Cafe is sponsored by Kansas Citizens for Science and the K-State Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research honor society.
