K-State police officers offer encouragement, motivation at Color Run

Submitted by Donald Stubbings

K-State Police Officers Thomas Harley and Dustin Parker, who were working the Color Run, created a motivation zone for runners.

As runners and walkers passed Gate 5 on Kimball Avenue they were greeted by high-fives and fist bumps to get participants through the last leg of the race.

"The finish line is right there; you got this!” shouted Parker as each runner passed Gate 5.

Each of the nearly 3,000 runners were greeted by the officers. By the end of the race, the officers were just as decorated with color and glitter as the participants. Each officer was awarded the Color Run metal.

"This was all self-initiated by the officers," said Ronnie Grice, assistant vice president and chief of police. "They had a fun time and were great representatives for not only K-State but for all of law enforcement."
