Celebrate young children, care providers April 12

Submitted by Chelsea Mitchell

The Kansas State University Early Childhood Student Association invites you to Sunset Zoo on Sunday, April 12, for the inaugural Early Childhood Provider Appreciation event, hosted by the Heartland Association for the Education of Young Children.

Come recognize and support the work of early childhood teachers, including those studying and working at Kansas State University, who provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for the young children you know in Riley, Geary, Pottawatomie and Clay counties. The reception will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the recognition of providers at 3:30 p.m. The Sunset Zoo will offer a discount for those in attendance to visit the zoo afterward: $2.50 for adults, $1.50 children.

Please RSVP for the event in advance.

Heartland Association for the Education of Young Children is hosting this event in honor of the Week of the Young Child, a national celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Caring for children is not rocket science but rather brain science.

Studies prove that the brain connections made in the first few years of life set a child's path for success in school and throughout their lifetime. High quality early childhood teachers understand the science of learning and support the development of those brain connections each time they work with a child.

Do you know someone who is making a difference in the lives of children? Nominate them to be recognized at the event. The deadline to nominate a provider is March 31.
