Update: KAPE withdraws complaints regarding university support staff conversion election, 2 percent raise

Submitted by The Office of General Counsel

As reported previously, the union representing service and maintenance employees at K-State filed two complaints against the university with the state of Kansas Public Employee Relations Board, or PERB, relating to the classified employees' conversion election and the subsequent 2 percent raise for university support staff employees at K-State.

The university filed a motion to dismiss both complaints. In ruling on that motion, the Public Employee Relations Board dismissed the union's claims regarding the vote and subsequent conversion. The presiding officer also found that further questions remained as to the union's allegations regarding the 2 percent raise, and set deadlines allowing the parties to engage in further discovery and file dispositive motions.

Thereafter, the labor union withdrew its appeals, and the board closed the cases on Dec. 1.
