Legislative Update

Submitted by Sue Peterson

The Kansas Legislature adjourned the 2021 regular session on Friday, April 9. The Legislature will return for the veto session beginning on May 3 for the final legislative work for 2021.

The budget bill House Bill 2007 passed both houses of the Legislature on April 9. Among the many provisions in the bill, the Legislature accepted the Senate proposal for funding for state universities, adding $24.9 million over the governor's recommendation. The bill goes to the governor's desk for action. View a PDF of the final actions of the conference committee.
