Research and the State graduate student poster session today

Submitted by Megan Miller

The Graduate Student Council will host the annual Research and the State graduate student poster session from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov.8, in Fiedler and Rathbone Hall atrium. The forum is free and open to the public.

Approximately 50 K-State graduate students representing six academic colleges and 20 academic disciplines will present their research or scholarly work to the K-State community and will discuss the implication their research has for important state-related issues.

Ten presenters will be selected by K-State faculty judges to present their research posters at the Capitol Graduate Research Summit on Feb. 26, 2019, at the State Capitol Building in Topeka. The selected presenters will be announced at an awards ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, in Engineering Hall, 1109 DUE.

The Capitol Graduate Research Summit is an annual showcase of research conducted by graduate students from Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, the University of Kansas, the University of Kansas Medical Center and Wichita State University. Participants have the opportunity to present their research posters and discuss the important implications their research has for issues in the state of Kansas with state legislators, the governor and the Kansas Board of Regents. Academic and industry representatives serve as judges to select the most outstanding presenters from each institution to receive scholarship awards.

Additional information about the presenters and the event, including the 2018 Research and the State abstract booklet, may be accessed on the Graduate Student Council Research Forums website.

Questions about graduate student research forums may be directed to the Graduate Student Council at egsc@k-state.edu or the Graduate School at 785-532-6191.
