Slate CRM Implementation for Graduate School

  • The Graduate School continues to work with Carnegie and the slate CRM implementation team. We are now in Phase II and have started building the application.
  • We are currently creating the fields and prompts for the application. This is a time consuming process because fields and prompts are how we create every data field that lives in the application.
  • We are also creating the core recruitments for an applicant and program-specific requirements based on the current CollegeNet process. We will soon begin building out the fee structure as well.

The current timeline is as follows:

    • Phase 1- Complete by November 6th
      • Building Records, Forms, Events, and Communications
    • Phase 2- Complete by January 22nd
      • The Application form developed
    • Phase 3- Complete by April 15th
      • Workflows designed
    • Final Implementation goal: April 29th
    • Historical Data Migration into Slate by May 31st

Recruitment

Recruitment Event Funding Grants

The Graduate School is accepting applications for recruitment funding grants. The grants assist graduate programs with hosting spring semester campus visit events for applicants offered Fall 2024 admission to doctoral programs or to the Fine Art terminal master’s degree program.

    • Programs will receive up to $500 per student attending the recruitment event and a maximum of $5,000.
    • Programs will be expected to make the travel arrangements and provide any additional funding necessary to support activities.
    • Complete the online application form by December 1, 2023. As part of the application, programs must upload a single PDF document containing an engagement plan, sample itinerary (1-2 pages), and the estimated budget, including department contribution. The engagement plan should indicate what opportunities the recruits will have to interact with current students and faculty and what activities will be included to orient them to the department, campus, and town.
    • Funding decisions will be made by December 20, 2023.

Please direct questions about recruitment funding grants to Dr. Michael Young, Graduate Faculty Associate in the Graduate School, at michaelyoung@ksu.edu.

Current reports of students on probation or with incomplete grades

Updated reports of graduate students who are on academic probation (view reports) or who have incomplete course grades (view reports) are available in Grad Resources. Graduate students who are on probation were notified of their status in September, were encouraged to work with their major professor or graduate program director to develop a success plan and were directed to campus resources for support. A reminder message was sent to these students prior to the fall break. A reminder is also being sent this week to enrolled students who still have incomplete course grades from the spring and summer 2023 terms. Questions about these reports should be directed to Megan Miller, mmmiller@ksu.edu.

Open enrollment is December 1, 2023-March 1, 2023, for the United Healthcare Student Resources (UHCSR) plan for GTAs, GRAs, and GAs (on 0.5 FTE appointments). New and continuing grad assistants who wish to have coverage with this health insurance plan must enroll during the open enrollment period.

    1. Complete the UHCSR enrollment form: https://www.k-state.edu/hr/benefits/insurance/health/gradhealth.html.
    2. Complete the hiring process with the Human Resources (HR) Liaison in your hiring department.
    3. You will pay UHCSR directly for your health insurance. This will be done through a payment link that UHCSR will email to you. This link is active for only 5 days. Opportunities for Graduate Students

Registration open for 3MT and K-GRAD, spring 2024 events

Graduate students engaged in research are encouraged to participate in the spring 2024 research forum events. These events are great opportunities for students to develop their communication and presentation skills. The interdisciplinary nature of the events challenge graduate students to communicate their work in a way that non-experts can understand. This is a valuable skill to have as students go on the job market.

Graduate students may present any research they are conducting. Questions may be directed to Megan Miller, mmmiller@ksu.edu.
