English Language Program

Placement

EPT scores are used to place students into the right level of ELP classes or to demonstrate that they have English proficiency needed to begin university classes in a degree program. Students move through the ELP at different speeds and are placed into levels based on the guidelines described in the links on the left.

Incoming students who have submitted iBT (TOEFL) or IELTS scores may be placed into ELP classes based on their TOEFL iBT or IELTS scores without taking the EPT.

Students can provide official documentation of English proficiency until 12:00 p.m. (noon) of the last day of enrollment (usually a Friday) before the first day of classes. After this time, scores from the WildCAT/EPT and previous ELP classes will determine students’ placement for the current semester. Any evidence of English proficiency provided after this time will be used for placement the following semester.
